About us

We got into the Land Rover world in 1994 when we bought our first Defender. It was a 130 200Tdi.

Despite its bulkiness which makes it difficult to maneuver, the Defender 130 is an excellent vehicle for traveling with the family.

In 2002, the valiant 130 gave way to a Defender 110 SW Td5. I know opinions are divided on the Td5 but after driving 210,000 km with it, I can say it's the best engine ever fitted to a Defender.

When you love something, you don't count. In 2013, a brand new Defender 90 SW Td4 joined the family. I have to admit, a 6-speed gearbox and an efficient heater is quite enjoyable.

Through the various maintenance operations carried out on our Defenders, we discovered that most of these tasks are relatively simple and require little specific tools.

You don't need to be a highly skilled mechanic to start maintaining your Defender.

So we decided to share our experience with the Land Rover community.

All that was left was to find a name for our website. The site is dedicated to Defender mechanics. We are fascinated by the Star Wars universe, especially the Rogue One spin-off.

So we named it Meca One Defender (https://meca1.co.uk/defender/).

We put all our energy into providing you with clear and detailed operating procedures, tips and recommendations.
