Air filter change on Defender Td5

Vehicle ➔ Defender 110 Td5 2002
Difficulty ➔ Easy

Time ➔ 30 minutes
Summary

Do not clean the air filter with a blower because the high air pressure could damage the filter paper. The air filter would then be ineffective.

If the air filter is dirty, don't hesitate to change it. An OEM air filter costs only a few pounds.

As you will see in this tutorial, we have completely removed the air duct. This clears the workspace and makes access to the air filter easier. However, removing this hose is not essential. If you wish, to save time, simply disconnect the air flow sensor from the air filter and you can open the cover.

Reference ESR4238 is equivalent to reference LR027408.

If you also want to change your Defender's engine oil, it is best to buy the Td5 service kit (DA6004P) which includes : 1 sealing washer (CDU1001L) + 1 oil filter (LPX100590) + 1 rotor oil filter (ERR6299) + 1 air filter (ESR4238) + 1 fuel filter (ESR4686).
