The tailgate struts are worn. It's time to replace them.

The tailgate struts are not repairable. As soon as they no longer function correctly, they must be changed.

It is best to change both struts at once.

Before removing one of the two struts, be sure to hold the tailgate in position as it will immediately drop down. The only strut remaining does not allow the tailgate to remain in the raised position.
